Science CheMystery: Halloween STEM Demo with EcosySTEM Ambassadors: October 30, 2025

This Halloween, learning came with a bang, glow, and ooze as a pilot group of our 4th–12th grade students experienced a special hands-on science demonstration presented by our EcosySTEM Ambassadors. The event, appropriately named Science CheMystery, blended chemistry, curiosity, and a bit of spooky-season fun!


Students observed a series of high-engagement demonstrations that showcased:

  • Chemiluminescence (how certain reactions produce glowing light),

  • Mystery mixtures that changed color and texture,

  • Safe, small-scale explosions used to demonstrate energy release,

  • And polymers that oozed, stretched, and transformed before their eyes.

But beneath the excitement, the focus was on scientific inquiry and explanation. Ambassadors shared how reaction rates, molecular structure, energy transfer, and material properties all play roles in what we see during chemical reactions. Students were encouraged to make predictions, analyze outcomes, and connect what they observed to real scientific concepts.

This event offered:

  • Peer-led learning

  • Public speaking and leadership practice for Ambassadors

  • A spark of inspiration for younger learners

  • And a celebration of the joy and wonder of science

We are incredibly proud of our EcosySTEM Ambassadors for their preparation, confidence, and ability to make science meaningful and fun for others.

It was a Halloween treat that ignited learning—and a few bright glows along the way!

White Pine 6th Graders Attend “She Can STEM” Event to Explore Future Careers: April 4, 2025

White Pine’s 6th grade girls recently had an exciting and empowering opportunity to attend the She Can STEM event—an experience designed specifically for female and female-identifying students to explore the world of STEM careers and envision themselves as future innovators, creators, and problem-solvers. The event brought together female STEM professionals from across Idaho to share their career paths, insights, and real-world experiences. Students learned about the many STEM careers available in our own state , and how these professionals are making a difference in their communities every day. WP Robotics Team Wins Big at Botball Competition: April 12, 2025

  We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from our Robotics Team! Over the weekend, our amazing students competed in the Botball Robotics Competition —and walked away with 2nd Place Overall along with the Engineering Design Award ! 🏆 The Botball program is an international educational robotics competition that challenges middle and high school students to design, build, and program autonomous robots to complete complex tasks on a game board. Unlike remote-controlled robotics competitions, Botball robots must operate entirely on their own, making this a true test of problem-solving, coding, collaboration, and engineering design. Our students have spent months preparing—brainstorming ideas, testing prototypes, debugging code, and refining their designs. Winning the Engineering Design Award is a testament to their thoughtful process, creativity, and technical skill.
