Dedicated describes our students perfectly! These top three teams in our eighth grade made it past our school competition to compete at the state level this weekend for the largest engineering middle school national competition, Future City.


Today and tomorrow they are being interviewed by professionals from all over the state! They were not only tasked to create a futuristic city on Earth’s moon at least 100 years in the future but also to utilize two of the moon’s resources.


We are beyond proud and excited for them. Finishing a challenging multi-month national competition with many obstacles in the way was no easy task. These students have grit and determination.

This Halloween, learning came with a bang, glow, and ooze as a pilot group of our 4th–12th grade students experienced a special hands-on science demonstration presented by our EcosySTEM Ambassadors . The event, appropriately named Science CheMystery , blended chemistry, curiosity, and a bit of spooky-season fun! Students observed a series of high-engagement demonstrations that showcased: Chemiluminescence (how certain reactions produce glowing light), Mystery mixtures that changed color and texture, Safe, small-scale explosions used to demonstrate energy release, And polymers that oozed, stretched, and transformed before their eyes.   Our world is becoming increasingly more reliant on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. White Pine feels it is crucial to encourage and empower young minds, especially girls, to explore these fields.  One remarkable imitative is the BYU-Idaho Girls in STEM Day. This event serves as inspiration for our middle school girls, sparking their interest and fostering a passion for STEM disciplines.  Historically, STEM fields have been male dominated, with women underrepresented in various scientific and technical professions.  Despite not clinching the top spot, our White Pine Robotics team soared at the Botball 2024 Regional Tournamen, Moon Base Mission!  We're proud to announce that the did secure the Judges' Choice award to show their dedication and innovation.  Presented by KISS Institute for Practical Robotics, this competition provided our students with invaluable learning opportunities. From tackling challenges to refining strategies, every moment was a chance to grow and excel.  While the road to victory may not always be smooth, it's the journey of learning and growth that truly matters. Our team emerged stronger and more inspired than ever, ready to take on new challenges and reach even greater heights in the world of robotics.
