STEM in Action: Exploring ISU’s Greenhouses: April 3, 2026

Our 6th grade students had the opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom this week with a visit to the Idaho State University greenhouses as part of We Can STEM!



During the tour, students got an up-close look at the science behind plant growth and greenhouse operations while learning more about how STEM concepts are used in the real world. Experiences like this give students the chance to explore new interests, ask questions, and see where their STEM learning could take them in the future.

Dive Into Innovation at the 2025 International SeaPerch Challenge: May 31, 2025

From the classroom to the pool, our SeaPerch team has gone above and beyond this year—and their hard work paid off in a big way. White Pine STEM Academy proudly represented our school at the 2025 International SeaPerch Challenge , held at the University of Maryland in College Park , from May 31–June 1 . The event brought together 181 teams from around the world—including China, Kuwait, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, and the United States —in a celebration of engineering, teamwork, and global collaboration. Our team competed among 75 middle school teams and walked away with strong placements in each category: 🔹 30th Overall 🔹 20th in the Obstacle Course 🔹 27th in the Mission Course 🔹 44th in the Technical Design Report But SeaPerch is about so much more than scores. Student Launch Composting Program: May 14, 2025

 At White Pine, we believe in learning that goes beyond the classroom—and our latest student-led project is the perfect example. This spring, students took the initiative to build and launch a school compost bin , and they’ll be responsible for maintaining it throughout the year. The project began with lessons on sustainability, ecosystems, and the environmental impact of food waste. From there, students got hands-on: designing the bin, assembling materials, and creating a system for collecting compostable items like fruit peels, vegetable scraps, and paper towels from classrooms and lunches.
